Altruism - Its Principle
Eden Rock is set up as a Public Benevolent Institution, under ‘HADR’ Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief whose existence is predicated on: Helping those in need globally, by supporting governments where people are suffering disasters – Hunger Crises – Tsamis – Floods – Fires and such like Eden Rock will gather urgent supplies to fly in as first responders.
– the moral practice of concern for the happiness of other human beings and/or animals, resulting in a quality of life both material and spiritual. It is a traditional virtue in many cultures and a core aspect of various religious traditions and secular world views.
The Word “Altruism” was coined in french by Auguste Comte the French philosopher – as ‘Altruisme’, an Antonym of Egoism.
He derived this from the Italian ‘Altrui’, which in turn was derived from the Latin ‘Alteri’, meaning “Other People” Or “Somebody Else”. The concept of “Others” toward whom concern should be directed varies.
Altruism can become a synonym of Selflessness, the Opposite of Selfishness.
Altruism in biological observations of global history’s days, is an individual performing an action which is at a cost to themselves (e.g.) – pleasure and quality of life, time, probability of survival or reproduction, either directly or indirectly, benefits another individual, without the expectation of any ‘Reciprocity or Compensation’.
Therefore Altruism is “Intentional and Voluntary” actions of an individual or a Collective Charity with the express aim of enhancing the welfare of another person or person [s] or peoples – absent any “Quid Pro Quo External Rewards”.
Giving alms (money or goods freely to the poor) is biblical and is a pillar of Lent, [an ancient Church practice].
The Hebrew word for alms, Edāqâ, – Means; Justice Or Righteousness; giving to those in need, helps reestablish right order; it produces justice.
Our World On Wings
People who complain about what percentage of collections reach programmes often fail to consider.
They sit in offices 5 days a week and expect a salary to house, clothe and feed their family.
Their logic departs as they expect charity workers to go to their work 5 days a week for a year and should not expect a salary.
Of course volunteers help for nothing but mainstream staff need a wage.
Ask the landlord of the retail space; “Can We Have Free Rent – We Are A Charity, or PWC“, “Will you do our Accounting for Nothing”; a new Car dealer, “May we have three cars for nothing” and so on -So let’s grasp reality by reiterating what we said above – a PARADOX – not understood by many;
A Charity is Simply a Business in Reverse.
Businesses collect CASH from affluent Clients and expend to provide Paid Products & Services – Charities collect tax deductible Cash from affluent Donor Clients and expend to provide Free Alms & Services to the Needy & Less Fortunate.
Charity Business: In its charity simple form, after producing revenue from donors, charities deduct wages rent and other overheads, pay taxes [if any] and what is left as after tax profit; – fund the planned programmes of the charity.
Red Cross say they don’t own any aircraft, but they have nine on Wet Lease From Civil Operators.
We will use corporate innovative flair, and draw on the Red Cross template for good ideas to import. Like Red Cross, we employ models to deal with corruption and greed, the foundation & staff must meet community expectations, to maintain faith with donors and reassurance that contributions are well spent.
We will review how Red Cross and Red Crescent contribute meaningfully to ICRC ‘Geneva and Humanitarian Aid & Disaster Relief ‘ – ‘HADR’ operations.
This was the Raison D’être – for – ‘Jets for Christ’ – JFC – which we established [1999] – in Nevada, as a disaster first responder, with rescuers, first aid, sniffer dogs.
This spends donor monies more wisely; insofar as – world governments provide equipment, the medical teams, dogs et al.
– Eden Rock simply reflects this glory, when planes touch down and the viewing public see, Eden Rock on the planes. JFC Grand-fathered the name and slogan ‘Surrounding a Hurting World – with a Legacy of Love and Hope’ – to Gary Artes and Eden Rock.
